India vs Australia: Having lost to Aaron Finch’s men in 2019, India will be keen on getting off to a good start when the two teams meet in the 1st of a 3-match ODI series in Mumbai on Tuesday.
- Rohit Sharma returns to India squad after missing T20I series vs Sri Lanka
- Australia defeated India 3-2 in an ODI series in 2019
- Plenty to look forward to in star-studded ODI series at home
India and Australia are all set to lock horns in the three-match ODI series with the first game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on January 14 (Tuesday). There is a lot to look forward to in this series with some of the finest cricketers in the 50-over format going head-to-head against each other over the course of the next week.
India are riding high on confidence after registering a convincing series win over Sri Lanka in the T20Is earlier this month and will be bolstered by the return of vice-captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Mohammed Shami in their squad.
Both players were rested for the T20Is against Lanka but are now raring to get back on the field and don the blue jersey again.
Rohit adds the much-needed firepower at the top of the order for India along with Shikhar Dhawan, who will also have a point to prove in this series after an injury-plagued 2019.
Dhawan will be playing his first ODI in exactly five months but thankfully he will the support of Rohit at the other end, who is coming into this series on the back of a mountain of runs that he scored last year.
Who comes after the openers is a question which remains to be answered even though India captain Virat Kohli hinted on Monday that he was ready to demote himself to No.4 to accommodate KL Rahul in the playing XI.
